Independence day : Under the dark shadow

Its nearly 60 years since we gained independence ...As the time is passing the meaning of this day is getting distorted...There was a time when people were passionate about this day. I remember going to school to celebrate 15th August and come home with handful of sweets and with happy feelings.... And now, I dont think many parents would allow their children to even go out to the market or to play on this day....There is a fear in every ones heart that something unpleasant will happen....Someone might blow up the market place or the station or something else like this..... The security checks are so stringent that you dont even feel like going out.... At the most some young lads would fly kites that also not in all parts of the city.... I did dare to go out on independence day and boy it was fun......I had never seen the Delhi roads so empty but still after every 2 km or so there was a barracade and the police men look suspiciously at you when you pass by.....
I was wondering whether our forefathers who fought for our independence would have ever thought that 15th August would be treated as a dreadful day and instead of celebrating it with fellow countrymen everyone would sit at home and watch a movie or something.....
I cant help to ponder on what do people gain by killing innocent people .....why do they want to bomb market places or trains or planes .... Do they really think that they will achieve something by all this violence....arent they just pumping more hatred in us by doing all this?? Is there an end to this terror???
